Accurate and timely financial records are your key to success!
Working in public accounting, you see a lot of things. One recurring theme is small business owners bringing in heaping boxes or bags of unorganized receipts, or no receipts at all, and asking to have their taxes done. These business owners are hard working folks who know their business. They know their industry and they know what it takes to succeed. They may have some idea how they are doing financially, based on the balance in their checking account, but they do not know if they are making a profit, sustaining a loss, or barely getting by. They would like to know, but between making sales calls and taking care of their clients, they simply don't have time.
Operating a business successfully is highly correlated to your record keeping. With up to date and accurate financial records, you will know how your business is performing, what your most profitable product or service is, which expenses are getting out of control, and how much money you are making. You will also be better positioned to take advantage of opportunities that come along. You will maintain cash reserves to help your business through the lean times and avoid laying off employees. You will be able to pay your bills and even pay yourself. With proper planning, you will also avoid surprises at tax time.

Do you do payroll?
I do payroll for my bookkeeping clients.
Will you pay our bills and make our bank deposits?
I will work with your existing bookkeeper or office staff in order to reconcile bank accounts, provide segregation of duties, and produce financial statements and other financial reports. I do not do the back office functions of paying bills, making deposits, collecting from your customers, etc.
So what exactly do you do?
I provide services for Preparation of Financial Statements under SSARS No. 21 (Statements on Standards for Accounting and Review Services). I prepare a Balance Sheet, Income Statement (P&L), and Statement of Cash Flows along with other financial reports requested by my clients. I provide tax-basis financial statements for independent contractors.
Do you do taxes?
No. But my work will allow you to submit the information for your taxes to your existing tax preparer in a timely manner. If you need a tax preparer, I have several excellent colleagues to whom I can refer you.
Can I really afford you?
Yes! Once the financial records are in order, most of the work for small businesses only requires a few hours each month. By partnering with me, you do not have to hire a full-time or even part-time staff person. You will save on payroll taxes and employee benefits costs. The employees you do have are then free to focus on growing your business for you. You are free to relax in the knowledge that the financial records of your business are accurate and up-to-date.
