Kane Accounting is 10 Years Old!

We can’t believe it’s been a decade! Over the last ten years, we’ve helped hundreds of businesses all over the country. Looking back over everything we’ve accomplished, it’s hard to believe Kane Accounting started almost by accident.

Where Kane Accounting Began

Before Kane Accounting existed, I spent years preparing tax returns in CPA firms. Every tax season, small business owners would come in needing help with their business returns. To file their taxes, we always needed a balance sheet and an income statement.

When we asked for these reports, a shocking the responses were blank stares.

Many of these business owners didn't know how to pull those reports. In fact, a lot of them had done no bookkeeping whatsoever. They had no idea whether they were profitable. They were blindsided by their tax bills every year. They had no way to respond when their industry market shifted. Once a year, they got a brief glimpse of their numbers when their tax return was filed. That was it.

Working long hours on those returns, I kept seeing the same thing. Business owners were struggling to stay afloat because they didn’t have consistent, reliable answers about their finances.

They needed more than just a tax preparer once a year. They needed someone in their corner year-round.

How Kane Accounting Was Born

In 2016, my husband became a partner in a business and set up an S Corporation, which meant he was required to run payroll. So I started handling his payroll and bookkeeping. Shortly after, my cousin started her own S Corporation. So I started handling her payroll and bookkeeping as well.

A few months later, I made a casual post on Facebook mentioning I was busy filing quarterly payroll reports. A fellow CPA from my church happened to see it. He knew a business owner who was frustrated with his current bookkeeping firm, and so he connected us. That business owner became my first major client.

By July that year, I had officially registered as a bookkeeping firm. More clients followed, many of them being friends of my husband and cousin who needed the same kind of help. Those clients brought more clients.

And just like that, Kane Accounting was born!

What’s Ahead for Us

Getting to help business owners with the exact needs I first noticed back in my tax preparation days has been one of the greatest honors of my career. I’ve watched countless businesses transform, all thanks to the peace of mind that comes from having a trusted financial professional in their corner.
